Competing in a seasonal format from February through November, Northeast Championship Wrestling presents a unique night of entertainment wherever we go bringing forth our larger than life characters, incredible athleticism, with a unique one of a kind experience for fans of all ages.

Last month at NCW’s 15 year REUNION in Dedham, MA Warwick native Michael “Buddy” Romano competed in the finals of NCW’s Heavyweight Championship Tournament against the highflying “Juice” JT Dunn, with both men vying for the vacant title and the right to be called Champion. In an incredible match that saw a great deal of collateral damage, Dunn picked up the victory over Romano after delivering a vicious bicycle kick for the former Heavyweight Champion. On May 26th when NCW presents Spring Slam these two rising stars will go at it one more time in a REUNION rematch when Buddy Romano challenges “The Juice” JT Dunn for the NCW Championship in a West Warwick Street Fight!

The longest reigning Champion in NCW history will defend his coveted New England Title May 26th in West Warwick, when “The Original Showoff” Mike Paiva defends against Johnston’s own Rob “The Giant” Araujo. For months now “The Giant” has been entangled in a bitter war with his former friend and tag team partner Kevin Cordeiro, ever since Cordeiro turned his back on Araujo to join the New England Champion in Zero Tolerance as Paiva’s protégé. At Spring Slam “The Giant” will attempt to wrestle the New England Title away from “The Original Showoff” while “Cocky” Kevin Cordeiro goes one on one with Paiva’s rival, the lovable woodsman the Lumberjake.

Plus the new NCW Tag Team Champions the Granite State Wrecking Crew [“The Unequaled One” Todd Sople & Gunar Rowe] make their first title defense since winning the Championship at REUNION, defending against the high impact tandem of “The Portuguese Sensation” Ruy Batello and “Dynamic” Jon Thornhill—Ruination SLAM!

Also appearing May 26th will be Steve “The Turtle” Weiner, “Dynamite” Doug Summers, Eddie Loomis, “The RIOT” Kellan Thomas, David Loomis, Richard Pacifico, Big Bully Rezner, “The Barrington Bulldozer” John Munroe, and many more!

The West Warwick Elks Lodge is located at 60 Clyde Street in West Warwick, RI. Doors open for this event at 7pm with a 7:30pm bell time. Tickets are only $10 for adults and $5 for kids twelve and under, giving you the best bargain for a huge night of family friendly wrestling action.
On April 27th, 2012 at NCW’s 15 year REUNION, JT Dunn pinned Buddy Romano in the finals of the Heavyweight Championship Tournament, cementing himself as a true main event player and becoming the twelfth man to win the NCW Championship since its inception in 1999. Nothing can be taken away from Romano however, a former Tag Team Champion who won the 2011 Big City Rumble last Season to win his first Heavyweight Title, albeit in controversial fashion. The burgeoning rivalry brewing between these two young guns mirror some of NCW’s biggest rivalries of the last 15 years, and recognizing what’s come before may help us look at what’s ahead for these two rising stars.

The Original Rivalry

While NCW was founded in 1997, its formative years found the promotion in flux, floating around without direction or purpose. When “Revolution” Chris Venom struck out on his own alongside his main squeeze Gina Marie, “The Revolution” promised to lead Northeast Championship Wrestling into a new era, an era led by him. By that time Venom was already a former NCW Tag Team Champion with his PYCW running mate Dave Champion, but Venom’s sights were set on the Heavyweight Title, held by Big Poppa Drunk Sean O’Callahan. At Silence the Violence II (March 5th, 2000) Venom called out Big Poppa Drunk, and nearly walked out the NCW Heavyweight Champion in his first attempt. Due to interference by the Damned (Mad Dog Matt Storm & Draven), manager Sean Gorman, and Zero Tolerance (JC Marxxx, Ruy Batello, & Triplelicious) the match was thrown out by Commissioner Scotty Angel resulting in a giant locker room melee. During the ruckus Chris and Gina Marie bolted from ringside, stealing the Heavyweight Title belt. Shortly after Silence the Violence O’Callahan decided to walk out of NCW, forfeiting the Championship he no longer possessed. Venom took full credit for the walkout, but Commissioner Angel decided to punish “Revolution” by taking him out of the upcoming Title Scramble at NCW Meltdown (April 7th, 2000) and making him the guest referee instead. It was on this night in Seekonk, MA that the landscape drastically changed for the promotion and would help define the next year for the company when Triplelicious broke away from JC Marxxx and Zero Tolerance, winning his third NCW Title after eliminating his ZT partner Ruy Batello. Following the match Venom presented the NCW Championship right to the skull of Trip, firing the first shot and putting the new Champion on notice.

What followed was a yearlong back and forth with these two up and comers, wrestling up and down the east coast with Venom finally defeating Trip for the Heavyweight Championship on November 26th, 2000 in Plainfield, CT thanks to assistance from his newly minted Divine Legacy (“Primetime” Randy J & “The Main Event” Matt Burns). The dysfunctional relationship escalated further, bleeding into other promotions (ICCW, EWA) until their brutal No Disqualifications Match at NCW WrestleFest II (May 27th, 2001) where a battered and bloody Venom went down to a vicious ‘H-Cube’ onto the Heavyweight Championship, giving Triplelicious his fourth title win. While their rivalry eventually led to a partnership between the two, there’s no denying that their feud made both men better wrestlers, and helped define what NCW would become because of it.

The Next Generation

Another feud that shows similarities for the potential a Buddy Romano/JT Dunn rivalry brings us to 2007 when “Dynamite” Doug Summers defeated three men in one night to win the vacant Heavyweight Championship, after “The Portuguese Sensation” Ruy Batello retired as Champion during the summer of 2006. It was at Silence the Violence VI (January 19th, 2007) where Summers defeated “The Monster” Cenobite and Triplelicious en route to facing his friend Davey Loomis in the finals for the vacated title. Both Loomis and Summers had debuted when NCW returned in 2005, and in the two years since both men had grown to be two of the cornerstones of the ‘new’ NCW, especially in the wake of Batello’s retirement. After a tremendous back and forth match, Doug was able to defeat Davey following a brutal ‘beautiful disaster’ knee crusher to win his first Heavyweight Championship. The two friends embraced following the match, and Davey would continue to watch Doug’s back until Loomis was put on the disabled list by Dean “The Beast” Livsley, keeping him out of action for nearly ten months.

When Loomis returned to action at the 2008 Big City Rumble (March 22nd, 2008), he returned to a world he no longer knew. During his time away Dean had made amends for the crimes he had committed and had become one of NCW’s most popular competitors, even teaming with Doug Summers himself. While Loomis tried to put the past behind him, emotions began to flare leading to a heated war between Livsley and himself. This didn’t stop Davey from winning the 2008 Big City Rumble however, earning another title opportunity against Doug at NCW’s 11 year REUNION (April 12th, 2008). Before Loomis would get his title match however, he would have to face “The Beast” one on one while Summers would have to defend his Championship against Tim Kilgore, forcing both challenger and champion to wrestle twice in one night. Summers was able to retain against Kilgore, but Loomis took things too far against Livsley, nearly destroying his knee in the process. Out for blood, a more intense Loomis singled in on an exhausted Summers, dissecting him and brutalizing him like never before. When Dean returned to ringside to distract Davey, Doug took the advantage and got the win in a huge upset. Unlike their first encounter a year earlier, there was no embrace following the match. Loomis assaulted Summers, nearly crippling him with a ‘kryptonite crunch’ and forcing the entire locker room to pour out to break up the brawl.

The next month at Silence the Violence VII (May 23rd, 2008) Loomis arrived in Dedham, MA with a new attitude and a new manager, as he aligned himself with JC Marxxx following the events of REUNION. Realizing that his alleged friends turned their backs on him, Loomis decided he would follow a man who never lied to him even when he was trying to end his career. The new attitude for Loomis pushed his persona over the edge, leading to psychological warfare with the NCW Champion. Thanks to JC’s managerial assistance, David was able to utilize his Luck of the Draw title opportunity against Doug the same night he won it (August 22nd, 2008) after Summers had already wrestled his title match against Evan “Hawkeye” Hunter. A tired and weary Summers was barely able to put up a fight, as Loomis dispatched “Dynamite”, ending his record breaking eighteen month title reign.

The New Era

Let’s not mistake the fact that JT Dunn and Buddy Romano are nothing like their counterparts. The Venom/Trip and Loomis/Summers feuds are unique to themselves, and hold no actual bearing on the career paths of the current champion and challenger. There is something to be said for the parallels however, and what may spawn over the next few months with the Heavyweight Title situation. Both men have slowly risen through the ranks since debuting in 2009, and while Buddy’s transformation from happy-go-lucky Slamtech graduate into the sick individual he’s become has been shocking and jarring, no one can deny the talent he possesses especially after his banner year in 2011 thanks to his Best of 7 Series with Doug Summers, his alliance with the reformed Zero Tolerance, and his victory for the NCW Heavyweight Championship.

For Dunn it’s always been about proving himself, clawing his way into NCW after first appearing at the 2009 Big City Rumble and eventually earning a contract along with tag team partner Vincenzo Abruzzi after months of battling the veterans of NCW (David Loomis, Chris Venom & William King, etc…) for respect. Respect came at a slow pace, though ultimately he gained high regard from his peers after a brilliant series of matches with “Simply the Best” GA West and David Loomis during the 2011 Season. Dunn’s stock only grew, gaining notoriety in promotions all over New England while making huge waves in PWF-Northeast as their Lightning Cup Champion.

This year has been all about proving his critics wrong, and though Romano would never want to admit it he’s always done the same since joining NCW and wrestling in general. At NCW’s 15 year REUNION both men let it all hang out, and had an amazing match in the process. And while Dunn picked up the victory in Dedham, neither man is truly a loser in this first chapter. It’s what happens next that will define the legacy of both men.

It was a historic night in Dedham with two new Champions being crowned, two men wrestling their final matches, and a few surprises and debuts sprinkled in.

For pictures of this event, please check out Picture Dave Rodrigues’ exclusive album at http://public.fotki.com/francise33/ncw/15-year-reunion/

Venue: Jacob Jones VFW Post
Ring Announcers: Shane “Sipowicz” Daly & “Revolution” Chris Venom
Commentators: Jim Aches & “Sinista1″ Keith Hayes
Referees: Dan Tanaka, Anthony Greene, & Redd Roche

- Before the action started Shane Daly welcomed back the two time former NCW Champion “Revolution” Chris Venom, who was the special guest ring announcer for the featured bouts at REUNION.

- In the night’s opener, Triplelicious d. “Dynamite” Doug Summers after hitting him with an ‘H-Cube’ out of nowhere. The Dedham crowd was split 50/50 for the two former Heavyweight Champions, which seemed to irritate “Dynamite” Doug. Following the match Summers snatched a ‘Doug Summers’ sign that a fan had made in the crowd, cradling it to the back.

- David Marxxx-Loomis came out to the ring, with a confused JC Marxxx following right behind him. Before JC could find out what was going on, Davey called Dean “The Beast” Livsley out to ringside. Hungry for another opportunity, Loomis asked Livsley for a title match against the winner of Buddy Romano vs. JT Dunn. An angry JC interjected however, stating that Davey lost his shot against JT in Foxboro, and this needed to be about Zero Tolerance and Buddy Romano. Davey didn’t care however, prompting JC to walk out on his son, telling him that he needed to go focus on Romano. Davey asked Dean again, and the NCW Commissioner agreed that he deserved another shot at the NCW Championship. Before they could continue however they were interrupted by Doc Ozone, who had his new charge Mark Moment by his side. Ozone was still fuming over Davey’s shenanigans in Foxboro, and challenged Loomis to a match with Moment. Davey agreed, with Dean calling out referee Dan Tanaka.

- David Marxxx-Loomis d. Mark Moment w/ Doc Ozone.

- In tag team action, Infliction (“The Extreme Strongman” Gino Martino & BA Tatum) d. the team of Alex Creed & Hunter Ward.

- NCW New England Champion “The Original Showoff” Mike Paiva w/ Kevin Cordeiro d. The Lumberjake to retain the New England Championship, after Lumberjake got caught in a ‘sleazeball special’ onto the New England Title.

- Eddie Loomis d. “Simply the Best” GA West w/ Doc Ozone in a great back and forth.

- “The Maniacal” Jack Krueger d. “The Monster” Cenobite in a No Holds Barred Match, which also turned out to be a Loser Leaves Town Match after “The Monster” challenged Krueger before the match to the added stipulation. Both men destroyed each other, but in the end “The Maniacal One” picked up the biggest win of his young career. After the match, Cenobite unmasked, said a few words to the Dedham fans and to Krueger, and finally released the demons that had consumed Mike Volpe for the last 7 years.

- In the Scotty Vegas Muttonchops Challenge “The Barrington Bulldozer” John Munroe d. Scotty “By GOD” Vegas, seemingly ending the challenge once and for all. Unfortunately Munroe continued the assault following the match, leading to Dan Tanaka reversing the decision and disqualifying Munroe.

- The Granite State Wrecking Crew (“The Unequaled One” Todd Sople & Gunar Rowe) d. Destruction Under Impact (“RIOT” Kellan Thomas & “Impact” William Thorne), Ruination SLAM (“Dynamic” Jon Thornhill & “The Portuguese Sensation” Ruy Batello) and Richard Pacifico & Big Bully Rezner in the NCW Tag Team Invitational to win the NCW Tag Team Championship after Gunar Rowe forced William Thorne to tap out.

- In the Submissions Match, Rob the Giant d. his former tag team partner “Cocky” Kevin Cordeiro after Mike Paiva inadvertently distracted his protege and allowing Giant to force Cordeiro to tap.

- “The Juice” JT Dunn d. Buddy Romano w/ JC Marxxx in the Finals of the NCW Heavyweight Title Tournament, winning the NCW Championship after a vicious bicycle kick to Buddy’s skull. During the match JT Dunn accidentally super-kicked referee Anthony Greene from the ring, forcing Redd Roche to replace him in the closing moments of the match. Commissioner Livsley also interjected himself, removing JC Marxxx from ringside and allowing things to remain one on one.

- Following the match Amber showed up to celebrate the win with JT, surprising Dunn before he said a few words to the supportive Dedham fans.

On Friday April 27th the 2012 Season continues when Northeast Championship Wrestling returns to the Jacob Jones VFW Post in Dedham, MA [84 Eastern Avenue] for one of the biggest events in our history– the 15 year REUNION! Back in 1997, no one could have imagined what NCW would grow into, and on April 27th REUNION will showcase some its greatest matches ever when we return to our home base of operations in Dedham.

Doors open at 7:30, with an 8pm bell time. Tickets for this event are only $10 for adults and $5 for all kids twelve and under. The Jacob Jones VFW Post 2017 is located at 84 Eastern Avenue, right off Rt. 1 and across from the Tahiti Restaurant. For up to date information on NCW’s REUNION, be sure to like us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/NCWwrestling!

Hosted by the two time former NCW Heavyweight Champion “Revolution” Chris Venom (who retired at last year’s REUNION event against his longtime friend Triplelicious) , April 27th is sure to be a memorable event with all three Championship Matches on the line, a Submissions Match between two former friends, and a violent No Holds Barred clash between despised rivals. If you miss this event you’re sure to miss something special when NCW returns to Dedham for REUNION.

-Main Event- Finals for the vacant NCW Heavyweight Championship-
Buddy Romano w/ JC Marxxx vs. “The Juice” JT Dunn

After months of tournament action that started back on February 3rd in Dedham, we now know who the final two challengers will be for the vacant Heavyweight Championship at NCW’s 15 year REUNION. In one corner stands the former NCW Heavyweight Champion Buddy Romano, who lost the Championship at the end of the 2011 Season to “The Antisocial Anarchist” Tim Kilgore and has clawed his way back into title contention by defeating the Lumberjake, “Dynamite” Doug Summers, & Ruy Batello en route to his place in the Finals.

On the other side of the ring stands the ultimate underdog in “The Juice” JT Dunn. Making his first appearance for NCW back in August 2009 at the 09′ Big City Rumble, Dunn was met with hostility and persecution based on where the young upstart had come from. Determined to prove himself, Dunn earned himself an NCW contract during the 2010 Season, teaming with Vincenzo Abruzzi as the New Era and taking on all comers to show they could hang with the best of them. When Vinny was put on the injured list during the fall of 2010, JT struck out on his own and has never looked back, establishing himself as one of New England’s top players. In less than two years Dunn has evolved into one of the most exciting high impact players in the business, achieving new heights in PWF-Northeast, Whaling City Wrestling and Gold Standard Wrestling all while honing his craft in NCW. After eliminating Scotty Vegas, Richard Pacifico, and David Marxxx-Loomis in the Championship Tournament, Dunn has only one obstacle left before declaring himself the very best in NCW. Beyond the well documented personal history between Dunn and Romano, the only thing at stake April 27th in Dedham is the NCW Heavyweight Championship, and the bragging rights that come with it.

-NCW New England Championship Match-
(c) “The Original Showoff” Mike Paiva w/ JC Marxxx vs. The Lumberjake

It will be student vs. teacher on April 27th in Dedham when the longest reigning Champion in NCW history “The Original Showoff” Mike Paiva defends his New England Championship against the 2011 Rookie of the Year, his former trainee the Lumberjake. On July 18th, 2009 Mike Paiva defeated Richard Pacifico for the New England Title, and since then has embarked on one of the most auspicious title reigns in the history of wrestling, finding every opportunity possible to hang onto his coveted Championship.

At NCW COLLISION COURSE Paiva took a night off from defending his Title, competing against his former trainee the Lumberjake in a 1st Round Tournament Match for the vacant NCW Title. After reaching a time limit draw against the burly woodsman, an overconfident JC Marxxx offered up an overtime proposition for the 2011 Rookie of the Year. Accepting the chance, Paiva walked right into a vicious ‘log line’, giving Lumberjake the biggest win of his career against his former mentor. Since then “The Showoff” has made Jake’s life a living hell, screwing him out of the Championship Tournament and attacking him at every turn. Sick of Zero Tolerance and Paiva’s nefarious ways Commissioner Livsley has opted to give Lumberjake another huge opportunity at REUNION, taking on Paiva for the New England Championship. Even with Zero Tolerance and his new protégé “Cocky” Kevin Cordeiro, will the two and a half year reign of Mike Paiva finally be at its end?

-NCW Tag Team Invitational VII for the NCW Tag Team Championship-
(c) Destruction Under Impact (“The RIOT” Kellan Thomas & “Impact” William Thorne) vs. Ruination SLAM (“The Portuguese Sensation” Ruy Batello & “Dynamic” Jon Thornhill) vs. The Granite State Wrecking Crew (“The Unequaled One” Todd Sople & Gunar Rowe) vs. Pacifico & Big Bully Rezner

The very first Tag Team Invitational for Northeast Championship Wrestling took place in 2005 in Dedham, when Generation SLAM emerged as the premiere tag team in the promotion, winning the NCW Tag Team Championship for the first time after defeating the Maine State Posse. Since then their have been five other Invitationals, and on April 27th the seventh Tag Invitational may be the most volatile yet as the Tag Team Champions DUI defend against three top tier teams with high stakes for all involved.

After striking an agreement with “The Unequaled One” Todd Sople and Gunar Rowe at Silence the Violence XI to help watch their backs against Zero Tolerance, Destruction Under Impact has formed an uneasy alliance with the Granite State Wrecking Crew, the apex of that being at the Fight in Foxboro where the foursome teamed up in Total Elimination and were victorious over their competition. With two other teams challenging at REUNION, will the Wrecking Crew continue to watch DUI’s back or will it be every team for themselves in Dedham?

The other two teams are no slouches either, as Ruination SLAM reunites for the first time since the 12 year REUNION as “Dynamic” Jon Thornhill and “The Portuguese Sensation” Ruy Batello look to add another Tag Team Championship reign to their collection of gold and glory. Richard Pacifico & Big Bully Rezner literally bullied their way into this years Invitational, having eliminated Steve “The Turtle” Weiner from competing and forcing the Weiner/Summers duo out of the match in favor of the sadistic squad of Rezner and Pacifico.

-Submissions Match-
Rob the Giant vs. “Cocky” Kevin Cordeiro w/ Mike Paiva

It was at NCW NO FEAR last October when Kevin Cordeiro shockingly turned his back on his tag team partner and friend Rob the Giant, turning to the darkside and aligning himself with “The Showoff” Mike Paiva and Zero Tolerance. Since then Cordeiro has singled out his former pal, specifically looking to take Giant’s leg out from under him. After nearly ripping his limbs off at COLLISION COURSE during their Tournament Match, Giant demanded another chance to give some payback to “Cocky” Kevin, leading to Commissioner Livsley signing this Submissions Match for REUNION between the former partners, settling the score once and for all.

-No Holds Barred Match-
“The Monster” Cenobite vs. “The Maniacal” Jack Krueger

Even after conquering his demons over the last couple of years, “The Monster” Cenobite has always been tormented. Even when he’s winning, the darkness looms over him with some deviant lurking in the shadows. After defeating Pacifico in the Boston Massacre II and winning the 2011 Match of the Year, 2012 has seen Cenobite be systemically ripped apart by “The Maniacal” Jack Krueger. First his muse and inspiration Valkyrie went missing after Krueger began stalking her, and then after losing his Tournament Match to David Loomis, Krueger continued his mind games with “The Monster”, destroying him from within.

Though Cenobite was the one who challenged Krueger to the No Holds Barred encounter April 27th, it seems as if it was Jack’s intention all along roping Cenobite into his trap with one goal in mind; Destroying the monster who made him this way in the first place… His creator. His own demon– Cenobite himself.

“Simply the Best” GA West w/ Doc Ozone vs. Eddie Loomis

Frustrated with the never say die attitude of the youngest member of the Loomis brood, “Simply the Best” GA West went to make an example out of Eddie Loomis at Silence the Violence XI, hitting him with every impact move in West’s arsenal to put the runt down. In the end Loomis fought back, and it was only when “Simply the Best” began striking Eddie with some brutal shots to the unprotected head that the referee called off the match. Eddie’s attitude hasn’t changed much however, as he’s continued to bring the fight to GA while antagonizing him with his own quirky sense of humor. After participating as the special guest referee between West and David Loomis at the Fight in Foxboro, where Eddie inadvertently helped David pick up the win, Commissioner Livsley has demanded a rematch at the 15 year REUNION, giving lil’ Eddie Loomis another chance to never say die.

“Dynamite” Doug Summers vs. Triplelicious

After being unceremoniously eliminated from the NCW Championship Tournament by Buddy Romano, the overconfident “Dynamite” Doug was finally ready to settle into the tag team ranks with his pal Steve “The Turtle” Weiner, where Doug could finally win the NCW Tag Team Championship and become NCW’s first triple crown winner, a feat many have attempted but never accomplished. Doug’s dreams were dashed however when Weiner was declared too injured to compete at REUNION after his match with Big Bully Rezner, effectively putting him on the sidelines. While Doug seemed to put more blame on Steve then Rezner, Summers was committed to push forward and compete at REUNION. While Summers wanted a piece at Richard Pacifico in Dedham, Dean “The Beast” Livlsey canceled the match since Pacifico would be competing in the Tag Team Invitational. Finding a suitable replacement however, Dean has brought in the four time former NCW Champion Triplelicious to battle Doug at REUNION, much to Summers chagrin.

Scotty “By GOD” Vegas’ Muttonchops Challenge

As his glorious muttonchops grow more obscene by the day, Scotty Vegas becomes cockier and cockier in his insistence that no one will ever be able to get him to “shave dem chops”. After introducing the Muttonchops Challenge at NCW’s March Madness against “The Juice” JT Dunn, Vegas has used his wits and skills to hang onto the chops even when coming up on the losing end of things. After defeating the Lumberjake at the 3rd annual Fight in Foxboro, a smug Vegas issued an open challenge for Dedham, taking on any opponent who has the nerve to try and snip the chops.

PLUS David Marxxx-Loomis, “The Barrington Bulldozer” John Munroe, NCW Commissioner Dean “The Beast” Livsley, & more!

DEDHAM- On Friday night April 27th Northeast Championship Wrestling returns to the Jacob Jones VFW Post in Dedham, MA [84 Eastern Avenue] for one its biggest events ever, the NCW 15 year REUNION! Competing in a seasonal format from February through November, Northeast Championship Wrestling presents a unique night of entertainment wherever we go bringing forth our larger than life characters, incredible athleticism, and unique one of a kind experience to fans of all ages.

At REUNION we will finally crown a new Heavyweight Champion after “The Antisocial Anarchist” Tim Kilgore retired at the end of last Season, as former NCW Champion Michael “Buddy” Romano goes up against “The Juice” JT Dunn in the tournament finals, after months of weeding out the competition. Both Dunn and Romano advanced at the 3rd annual Fight in Foxboro, overcoming some stiff competition en route to the Finals. While this will be the first ever in-ring encounter between the two wrestlers, there is no love lost between both men with a volatile history behind the scenes in the locker room. On April 27th however Buddy and JT will have to put personal pride aside as they compete on the biggest NCW stage to become the Heavyweight Champion.

The NCW New England Championship will also be on the line in Dedham as the longest reigning Champion in NCW history, “The Original Showoff” Mike Paiva, defends his coveted New England gold against the 2011 Rookie of the Year and former trainee of Paiva’s, the Lumberjake! Since pinning Paiva in a Tournament Match in February, “The Showoff” has made plenty of trouble for the lovable underdog leading to their Championship encounter on April 27th. Can the rookie make an impact on NCW’s impact player?

The final Championship Match happening at NCW’s 15 year REUNION with be the 7th ever Tag Team Invitational, when the Tag Team Champions Destruction Under Impact defend their Titles against The Granite State Wrecking Crew, Ruination SLAM, and the duo of Richard Pacifico and his protégé Big Bully Rezner in an elimination tag team match. While The Granite State Wrecking Crew has watched the backs of DUI recently in their battles with Zero Tolerance, all bets are off when they compete in the Invitational on the 27th.

Also appearing April 27th at REUNION will be Rob the Giant, “The Barrington Bulldozer” John Munroe, “The Monster” Cenobite, “Cocky” Kevin Cordeiro, “The Maniacal” Jack Krueger, Scotty Vegas, “Dynamite” Doug Summers, Eddie Loomis, “Simply the Best” GA West, David Loomis, NCW Commissioner Dean “The Beast” Livsley, and the host for REUNION the two time former Heavyweight Champion “Revolution” Chris Venom!

Referees: Dan Tanaka, Redd Roche, & Anthony Greene
Ring Announcer: Shane “Sipowicz” Daly
Commentator: Jim Aches

- In a Quarterfinal Tournament Match “The Juice” JT Dunn d. Richard Pacifico.

- Big Bully Rezner d. Steve “The Turtle” Weiner after two vicious bully bombs. The nefarious Rezner then stole Weiner’s lunch money following the match.

- “The Maniacal” Jack Krueger came out to the ring, talking about the history he’s had with Cenobite over the years. At NCW’s 15 year REUNION, Krueger promised that fate would decide what will happen when they compete in a No Holds Barred Match on April 27th.

- Buddy Romano d. “Dynamite” Doug Summers in a Quarterfinal match after hitting Summers with his running knee.

- David Marxxx-Loomis d. “Simply the Best” GA West to advance into the Semifinals of the Championship Tournament after nearly taking off West’s head with the bicycle kick. Ensuring that there would be no interference in the Quarterfinal Match, Commissioner Dean “The Beast” Livsley brought Eddie Loomis out as the special guest referee. Eddie then booted both Doc Ozone and JC Marxxx from ringside, as the managers attempted to aid their charge. Tensions ran high between Eddie, David, & GA, and after West put his hands on Eddie, David utilized the opportunity to hit “Simply the Best” with his kick to win the match.

- In the first Semifinal Tournament Match Buddy Romano d. “The Portuguese Sensation” Ruy Batello, advancing to the finals on April 27th in Dedham.

- “Dynamic” Jon Thornhill d. “The Maniacal” Jack Krueger via count out when Krueger walked out on the match, “saving himself” for his No Holds Barred Match April 27th against Cenobite.

- Scotty “By GOD” Vegas d. The Lumberjake in the Muttonchops Challenge when “The Original Showoff” Mike Paiva distracted his REUNION opponent long enough for Vegas to take the advantage.

- The NCW Tag Team Champions Destruction Under Impact and The Granite State Wrecking Crew d. Zero Tolerance, Christopher James, & Michael Tootsie Esquire in a Total Elimination tag team match. The match came down to William Thorne and Gunar Rowe as the surviving members of their team.

- “The Juice” JT Dunn d. David Marxxx-Loomis in an amazing effort from both men, advancing Dunn to the Finals of the tournament. Following the match Buddy Romano came out to stare down his REUNION opponent, setting the stage for their huge encounter April 27th.

In 15 years of Northeast Championship Wrestling’s history, there’s been no shortage of prolific characters, inside an outside of the ring. But beyond the competitors of the squared circle, there are the unsung heroes of the professional wrestling business, “the zebras”, the law of the ring, the referees. Dan Tanaka joined NCW in the winter of 2001, and has been a part of the family ever since. As we prepare for NCW’s 15 year REUNION event in Dehdam, MA on April 27th, we take some time to speak to NCW’s longtime official.

NCW: How did you get to know of, and get your start with Northeast Championship Wrestling?

Dan Tanaka: During my super fan days, I met former NCW Official, Adam LeClair at another independent event in Worcester, MA in early 2001. He spent some time talking about other independent wrestling events, namely ones he was promoting, and then of course NCW that he was a referee for.

On September 29th, of that year he invited me to go with him to the NCW event titled “Payback”. Which is an interesting title for the occasion, I had thought I would be a comped guest of Adam’s, but I actually had to buy a ticket. Although it wasn’t a big deal as tickets were only $6.

I actually met a lot of the NCW roster including the promoters over the summer at other promotions events, but still getting to know them. One of the things I noticed is that NCW didn’t have a timekeeper’s bell, which I thought was weird. It wasn’t even included with the ring rental service they had. Since I was kind of a poor college guy, wanted to save as much money as I could, plus being a super fan I had a timekeeper’s bell set a side, I decided to offer the promoters a trade off. The use of my timekeeper’s bell, for a comp’d ticket.

Then in December, I received an e-mail from the promoters thanking me for my help with the bell, and then offered me a referee’s position. I was a little taken back, and had to tell them I had neither experience nor training. I got a reply fast letting me know someone would give me my first steps of training before the event. From there, I took on the offer.

NCW: What were your first impressions with NCW?

Dan Tanaka: I could tell NCW was on what you could label a “shoestring” budget. It didn’t matter, because what they had, from curtains, the ring, and most of the guys wrestling gear did the job for a wrestling presentation. I saw guys who had heart and passion for what they do in the ring, and unique characters. Guys like Ruy Batello, Derrik Destiny, Dr. Reginald Heresy, Kid Krazy, “Big League” Brian Black, Adam Booker, Damian Houston, Duff, and Beast…with a full head of dirty long hair, frayed jean shorts being held around his waist by a rope, savoring a large bone, offering a bite to fans at ringside as he made his way to the ring. Who would have ever thought he would become the commissioner?

NCW: So tell us about your first night as a referee?

Dan Tanaka: My first night as a referee was on December 29th, 2001. The senior official at the time, Chris Santone, and another referee, Pee Wee Sherman (the once and future P-Haz!) watched me as I refereed some “sparring” matches I guess you could call them before fans were allowed into the building. Santone and Sherman would guide me and instruct me as I went along.

Time flew by, and it was time for my first event match. Dean Ripley, who was one of the managers, came to ringside to introduce his client, GQ Beast. It was Beast but he had a white dress shirt on, but would still be savoring that bone. Then came out GQ Beast’s opponent, “Psycho” Mike. Because of a stipulation in “Psycho” Mike’s victory, he got five minutes alone with Dean Ripley in the ring, to defeat him.

After that night Chris Venom recommended I attend training by T.J. Richter at the Squared Circle Academy that was in Providence, RI.

NCW: How did you feel about your earlier days with NCW?

Dan Tanaka: I think I had it good back then… I had a place to practice, and bookers who were very patient with me as I developed as a referee. NCW brought in some veterans of wrestling to help teach the newer wrestlers, and I only wish I spent more time talking to them and perhaps bring in the referees perspective…as I feel there has been a lack of focus there even before I came around.

NCW: What do you feel is the most important thing/lesson you’ve learned in your time in NCW?

Dan Tanaka: I’ve always known that some people have real bad tempers; sometimes I can be one of those people. But when it comes down to NCW or wrestling in general, these tempers can fly and hit anyone in site.

Another one of them would be that when push comes to shove, I could go all night. Although, NCW was not the first promotion where I would referee every match in the night, or perhaps all but one or two, but it was where I did it the most.

NCW: What do you feel is your stand out moment(s) in your tenure?

Dan Tanaka: It’s actually not easy for me to pick this one out. I’ve had several challenging events with NCW. There have been events where I had just worked with a television taping with another promotion about an hour or so away, only to come to work for NCW as the only referee for the night. Yep that means I refereed every match that night. One event in my earlier years I actually cut my hand up pretty good from some exposed cable from the ropes of the ring. Thankfully Shane Simons was nice enough to lend me some tape to hold down a cloth over the cuts…and then I’d continue to referee.

NCW: What was your favorite NCW match that you’ve been a part of?

Dan Tanaka: Doug Summers defeating Paul Hazard for the New England Championship in Dedham – October 8th, 2005. Then I’d have to say Dean “The Beast” defeating David Loomis for the Heavyweight Championship in Seekonk, MA – May 1, 2009

I pick these two matches as my favorites based on the fans energy from the crowd, in how much they ate up the match. People can say what they want about these guys, they might not be the best wrestlers in the world, but they had a great match those nights.

NCW: You left NCW in 2009, and beyond the personal reasons you had for leaving it was the best situation for yourself at the time. Did you ever think you’d come back to NCW?

Dan Tanaka: I didn’t really think it would happen anytime soon, but thought “maybe some other day”. It is interesting how coming back played down though… I actually met with a lot of the NCW roster for the first time in a little over a year (since I left NCW), for a surprise birthday party for Tim Kilgore. Kilgore had some funny idea for me to with him in a match with NCW. Since I’ve stayed friendly and civil with management I told them what he said. I think they took it wrong as myself trying to force my way back in so soon, and didn’t think it was so funny. I honestly can’t remember what the idea was but I can assure others reading this that it was NOT an inside joke. Later in the fall, I was a referee on a benefit event where a jovial JC Marxxx and David Marxxx-Loomis tried to call for Dance Tanaka…but there was no reply… Then after refereeing an event in Fall River, MA around March of this year, I ran into some of the NCW roster hanging out, plus management. After chatting briefly, I took off to get home. On the way, I called my now fiancé, and talked about the night. She then gave me her clairvoyant message “NCW is going to be contacting you to return”. It was a bit hard to believe… Then apparently some campaign started on their facebook page to bring me back.

NCW: How do you feel about the Dance Tanaka gimmick?

Dan Tanaka: I think there is a time and place for it… I think Dance Tanaka’s best moment was probably defeating JC Marxxx in a dance off at the Loomis Arena for the Independent Connecticut Championship Wrestling tribute event. A close second being when Dance Tanaka was so impressed with Tim Kilgore’s “anal kick of doom” on Scotty Vegas, that he danced. Those best moments aren’t really for me to decide though.

NCW: No matter how you feel about the dancing, even you have to admit the crowd loves it when you put a little boogie into it.

Dan Tanaka: Which crowd are we seriously talking about though? Are we talking about the guys who had a match earlier and snuck out to sit in the crowd, or the fans that bought a ticket? I’m sure a bit of both enjoyed it, but I’m honestly at hard to believe any wrestling fan would pay a ticket price to see that.

NCW: NCW has consistently been known as the ‘Rodney Dangerfield’ of New England wrestling. Any thoughts on why NCW doesn’t get the respect it may (or may not) deserve?

Dan Tanaka: Let’s face it, NCW is unconventional. Veterans who have come for visits and sat out watching say that a lot of the guys aren’t ready for what they’re doing. Looking back I can honestly say I wasn’t ready to be a referee on the first night I did it, I probably should have been in a couple classes before then…but things happened the way they did. In that day NCW had a ring announcer that wore a either a polo shirt that wasn’t tucked into his khakis, or a dress shirt that was a little too big for him, and terribly worn out sneakers. Looking at today, I think NCW runs things better and a tighter ship while still wanting to give people a chance that others would not. I think that might be something others don’t like either. “That guy isn’t ready, and I’d rather see these other people on the event or on that part of the card”. Another feeling a lot of people have with NCW is the running of inside jokes in the ring. It happens, and it happens often…and there was a time where it happened a lot more than it does now. I think that’s what really causes a look down at NCW.

NCW: NCW Championship Tournament. Who is the man? (Editors Note: This interview took place prior to the 3/10 March Madness event, before Cenobite was eliminated from the tournament by David Marxxx-Loomis.)

Dan Tanaka: I have a couple, can’t be sure between them… Cenobite, the guy has a lot of steam, and bent up anger over his best friend BerZerker being taken out… Buddy Romano, I just don’t see the previous champion letting a regaining opportunity slip up that easily

FOXBORO- On Friday night April 13th Northeast Championship Wrestling returns to the Knights of Columbus Hall [14 Church Street] in Foxboro, MA for the 3rd annual Fight in Foxboro! Returning for the first time since November, this event will be the final stop before NCW’s huge 15 year REUNION showcase in Dedham, MA April 27th. Competing in a seasonal format from February through November, Northeast Championship Wrestling presents a unique night of entertainment wherever we go, bringing forth our larger than life characters, incredible athleticism, and unique one of a kind experience for fans of all ages.

On April 13th we will get one step closer to crowning a new Heavyweight Champion when the Quarterfinal and Semifinal matches in the Championship Tournament take place, with the winning participants moving on to the Finals at REUNION to compete for the vacant NCW Championship. The tournament matches will feature former foes “Dynamite” Doug Summers and Buddy Romano going up against one another, with the winner moving onto the Semifinals against the three time former Heavyweight Champion “The Portuguese Sensation” Ruy Batello. Batello knows both men very well, and with his advancement into the Semis taking place at NCW’s March Madness “The Sensation” will only have to win one match in Foxboro to advance to the Finals making him the odds on favorite to take the whole thing.

In the other half of the Quarterfinal brackets “The Juice” JT Dunn will continue his ascent to the top of the NCW mountain when he collides with the psychotic Richard Pacifico, while “Simply the Best” GA West will attempt to continue his undefeated 2012 Season record against the two time former NCW Champion David Marxxx-Loomis. West has been embroiled in a bitter feud with David’s younger brother Eddie Loomis over the last two months, and has publicly gone on record saying that if he can beat one Loomis the other will be just as easy. Whether that’s true remains to be seen until the 3rd annual Fight in Foxboro however.

In an eight man elimination tag team match the NCW Tag Team Champions Destruction Under Impact (“The RIOT” Kellan Thomas & “Impact” William Thorne) team up with their professional rivals The Granite State Wrecking Crew (“The Unequaled One” Todd Sople & “The Granite State Destroyer” Gunar Rowe) before the REUNION Tag Team Invitational when they take on the collective group of “The Original Showoff” Mike Paiva, “Cocky” Kevin Cordeiro, Christopher James, & Michael Tootsie Esquire. The match will continue until one team has been completely eliminated, promising an explosive encounter on April 13th.

Also appearing at the Fight in Foxboro will be Steve “The Turtle” Weiner, NCW 2011 Rookie of the Year the Lumberjake, “Dynamic” Jon Thornhill, Scotty Vegas’ muttonchops challenge, and many more!

The Knights of Columbus Hall is located at 14 Church Street in Foxboro, MA directly off of Rt. 140. Doors open for this event at 7:30 with an 8pm bell time. Tickets are only $10 for adults and $5 for kids twelve and under, giving you the best bargain for a huge night of family friendly entertainment and wrestling action.
