NCW 2012: A New Champion To Be Crowned

On Friday night February 3rd when Northeast Championship Wrestling kicks off its 2012 Season in Dedham, MA the long journey to crown a new NCW Heavyweight Champion begins as the preliminary matches in the Championship Tournament initiated by Commissioner Dean “The Beast” Livsley headlines COLLISION COURSE 2012. Twenty-two men have been selected by “The Beast” and the NCW Championship Committee to participate in the tournament, which will culminate in April at NCW’s 15 year REUNION event with the Semifinal and Final round matches taking place at our anniversary spectacular.

When “The Antisocial Anarchist” Tim Kilgore defeated Buddy Romano for the NCW Championship at WrestleFest VII, Livsley already had a plan in place for the vacated Championship, remembering what happened the last time the Championship was vacated by the reigning Champion when “The Portuguese Sensation” Ruy Batello retired as NCW Champion in 2006 after defeating “Revolution” Chris Venom in his then-final match.

“The biggest difference between then and now is the fact that when NCW crowned a Champion in 2007 there were only 8 guys wrestling,” the Commissioner said in a recent interview with TheNCWOnline.com. “For the 2012 tournament, I really wanted to give everyone the opportunity to compete for the gold.” Out of the twenty-two selected, twelve will be randomly selected to compete in first round preliminaries before moving into the Quarterfinals of the tournament. These wrestlers will be drawn at random with the prelims taking place on February 3rd, February 18th [Silence the Violence XI], and March 9th [NCW's March Madness].”
