THE WIRE
- There may be some big changes happening within Northeast Championship Wrestling over the next few months, as word going around the front office is that the NCW Championship Committee is looking to reinstitute a Commissioner/President role once again for the locker room, potentially leading to a huge creative change for the promotion in the next Season. There have been various Commissioners and Presidents in the past, including NCW founder JC Marxxx, Scotty Angel, and former NCW Heavyweight Champion Richmond Black. The last President was “The Showoff” Mike Paiva, who was elected by the NCW fans in January of 2006 when Paiva was retired from active competition. The New England Champion stepped down from his position in 2008, when he returned to the ring fulltime. Officials have stated that they would be electing the position internally, and have mentioned that the role would preferably go to someone who is not active on the NCW roster. More as this story develops.
- A big congratulations to former NCW Tag Team Champion “The Epic” Mike Bennett, who signed a contract with Ring of Honor last week. One of Chris Venom’s Heatseekers, Bennett helped Venom win the Tag Team Titles last Season defeating The Airdevils at the 12 year REUNION.
From ROH:
“In addition, ROH is also happy to announce that we have signed both Adam Cole and Mike Bennett to contracts as well. Adam Cole, a 21 year old graduate of the CZW Wrestling Academy, has been wrestling for two and half years, and has made quite an impact with his high-flying skills and solid technical base. Mike Bennett has competed for ROH on several occasions in the past, including bouts with Rhett Titus, Jason Blade, and most recently this past weekend at the “ROH on HDNet” TV Tapings where Cole also competed. ROH officials look forward to seeing what these two up and coming athletes have to offer in the future.”
NCW wishes Bennett the best of luck with everything going forward!

Arrivals:
- Though it was supposed to be a special surprise August 14th in West Warwick, the triumphant return of “Simply the Best” GA West (the former Osirus) was short lived when he got into a wild brawl with Triplelicious during the Big City Rumble. After heckling and hazing the entire roster (specifically Trip), the former NCW Champion had enough, jumping the barrier and tackling West.
- “The Average Guy” Timothy Pittman called out Owen Graichen at the Big City Rumble, as rumors had been circulating that Graichen was behind Jon Thornhill’s random attack. Owen promised that he wasn’t the culprit, and after attacking Pittman, revealed he knew who did. Buddy Romano (who had jumped the rail to run off Graichen) then blindsided Pittman, laying him out and brutalizing the Tag Team Champion. Romano & Graichen then double teamed Pittman, leaving him lying in the ring.
- Having made his last appearance back in 2008, Matt Magnum returned to NCW at the Big City Rumble, looking absolutely dominant in his match against the debuting “Dangerous” Devin Blaze. While both men put up a great effort, Magnum picked up the victory in convincing fashion. Following the match, Magnum promised to make an impact like no other.
- The 2010 Big City Rumble saw a surplus of new talent make their first NCW appearance, as the yearly event offers a unique opportunity for outside talent to make an impact with the promotion. This years event saw a variety of newcomers, including the already mentioned Blaze, Tommy Trainwreck, Zack Fantastic, and Rhode Island founder Roger Williams, while also featuring some diverse returns in the form of Chico Suave, Chris Blackheart, and Maniacal Mark(!)
Departures:
- Having grown tired of the constant in-fighting between the brothers Denile and Jack Krueger, Schillar Park Posse member Ryan Denile gave his notice to NCW, leaving not only the promotion behind but Schillar Park, CT as well. Even with The Posse reuniting fully at The Rumble, Ryan believes it will be short lived.
Injured:
- One half of the NCW Tag Team Champions “Dynamic” Jon Thornhill was injured July 10th at Summer MELTDOWN when Buddy Romano shoved Thornhill down a flight of stairs, hurting his knee. Thornhill is expected to return to action on September 17th at NCW FALLOUT.
- After undergoing knee surgery in July, “The Knight Angel” BerZerker is still on the disabled list until November the earliest. Will the Heaven’s Fury member return in time for WrestleFest VI?
- The NCW Heavyweight Champion David Marxxx-Loomis is currently working through an injured back, an injury he suffered in late July. Though he’s not expected to miss any time, rumors are circulating that that’s the reason Loomis entered himself into the Big City Rumble.
