2009 Season Year End Results

The results are in and ink is dry as we celebrate the winners of the 2009 Season Year End Awards! This year’s voting was even higher than last year, and NCW thanks all their fans (and wrestlers families) for voting. Awards will be distributed before the beginning of our first event of the 2010 Season on March 13th in Danielson.

  1. “The Showoff” Mike Paiva- 36%
  2. David Marxxx-Loomis- 25%
  3. “Dynamite” Doug Summers- 16%
  4. Dean “The Beast” Livsley- 15%
  5. “The Portuguese Sensation” Ruy Batello- 9%

With 36% of the vote, the NCW New England Champion “The Showoff” Mike Paiva is your 2009 Wrestler of the Year. It’s been a pretty amazing comeback for the “The Sultan of Sleaze”, who originally retired from competition in 2005. A year later, Paiva was voted NCW President by an overwhelming margin leading to a tyrannical reign as NCW’s prominent authority figure. The NCW President didn’t step foot into a ring again until 2007 when he, Scotty Vegas, & Mr. MTE teamed up to take on the trio of Ruy Batello, Timothy Pittman, & Jon Thornhill– Ruination SLAM!

Though he lost that match, Paiva got a taste for glory once more, and in 2008 stepped down as President so that he  could return to the ring full time. The remainder of the 2008 Season revolved around Mike Paiva’s war on the NCW Originals, an attempt to glorify himself as NCW’s greatest wrestler. The 2009 Season saw Paiva wage war with not only Dean “The Beast” Livsley and “Dynamite” Doug Summers, but also win his first NCW singles Championship by defeating Richard Pacifico for the New England Title.  From there Paiva did anything he could to hang onto his Championship, winning by any means necessary.

Paiva has promised that he will continue to reign supreme in 2010, hoping to earn the title of longest reigning New England Champion of all time. Good luck Champ.

  1. The Heatseekers- 28%
  2. The Schillar Park Posse- 26%
  3. Generation SLAM- 20%
  4. The Hollywood Blockbusters- 13%
  5. “Sweet” Scott Ashworth & Brickhouse Baker- 13%

2009 has become a Renaissance year for “Revolution” Chris Venom, who put together a combination of tag team specialists to dominate the division, and hold an iron grip to the NCW Tag Team Championship.

Though he’s teamed with “The Rocket” Fred Curry, “The Epic” Mike Bennett, and Guy Alexander the majority of the Season saw Venom team with “The Egomaniac” Jonny Idol, who helped catapult The Heatseekers to award winning status. While this years voting saw the Tag Team rankings closer than ever, the grizzled veterans proved once again why they’re the best at what they do.

  1. No Holds Barred Match for the NCW Championship [NCW Fallout]- 26%
  2. 3 on 2 Elimination Match [NCW Fallout]- 24%
  3. 8 Man Tag Team Match [NCW's Uprising]- 20%
  4. NCW Tag Team Championship Match [NCW Silence the Violence VIII]- 16%
  5. I Quit Match for the New England Championship [NCW Payback 2009]- 15%

It was a very close vote for this past Season’s Match of the Year, but in the end it was the classic No Holds Barred Match between NCW Heavyweight Champion Dean “The Beast” Livsley and David Marxxx-Loomis that won by a very slim margin. This match was an amazing display of physical violence, as both men punished each other beyond belief over NCW’s greatest prize. Both men knew each other so well that in the end Loomis had to use leverage from the ropes to keep Livsley on the mat, winning his second NCW Championship in the process.

  1. The Mike Volpe/BerZerker/Cenobite/Schillar Park Saga- 26%
  2. Ruy Batello vs. Doug Summers- 22%
  3. David Marxxx-Loomis vs. Dean “The Beast” Livsley- 20%
  4. Scotty Vegas vs. Pacifico- 17%
  5. Tim Kilgore vs. MTE- 16%

The beginning of this Season saw the arrival of the mysterious BerZerker, an enigma in search of the monster Cenobite.  While everyone believed that The BerZerker was there to destroy Cenobite, the reality was he was there to save him. During this time the tormented Mike Volpe, unaware that he was the conflicted Cenobite was being manipulated by “The Devils Reject” Brandon Webb, who had learned of Volpe’s true identity. All the while The Schillar Park Posse began harassing Volpe, pushing him further over the edge.

All roads led to NCW WrestleFest, where The BerZerker battled Brandon Webb in a “Soul on a Pole Match”, with Cenobite’s soul (and mask) on the line, while Volpe challenged all four members of the Posse to a Street Fight. “The Knight Angel” was victorious in his quest, defeating Webb and giving him the opportunity to help Volpe learn of his inner-strength,  and coming to terms with his other personality.

  1. David Loomis breaks Pacifico’s jaw- 44%
  2. The Schillar Park Posse unites against NCW- 19%
  3. MTE leaves town (twice)- 13%
  4. Triplelicious returns to NCW- 13%
  5. Mike Volpe IS Cenobite… Cenobite IS Mike Volpe- 12%

It was the shocker of the year when David Marxxx-Loomis knocked Richard Pacifico’s jaw off during their Heavyweight Title encounter at NCW WrestleFest V. The closed fist of Loomis ripped Pacifico’s jaw, causing him to temporarily pass out from the pain and leaving him prey for the Champions finisher “the Sidesplitter”. The incident put a morose end to the 2009 year, and has placed Pacifico on the D.L. list for the time being.

  1. Buddy Romano- 38%
  2. Perry Von Vicious- 33%
  3. The Schillar Park Posse- 20%
  4. The Hollywood Blockbusters- 6%
  5. “Sweet” Scott Ashworth & Brickhouse Baker- 3%

It was another close race in this category for the 2009 Awards, with the EPW graduate Buddy Romano eking out a victory over Perry Von Vicious and The Schillar Park Posse.  Though Romano didn’t have the biggest winning record for the Season, he definitely had the biggest heart earning the respect and admiration of the NCW fans. The Schillar Park Posse were a close third, proving that in most cases four guys are better than one.

The upset here almost came from Perry Von Vicious, the aristocratic newcomer who arrived in NCW early in the Season. Though PVV moved to the west coast following NCW Payback, clearly he made a impression on the NCW faithful.

  1. JC Marxxxx- 36%
  2. Peter Czymbor- 26%
  3. Referee Matt Calamare- 23%
  4. Shane Daly- 10%
  5. Shawn O’Vincent- 5%

Though he was robbed last year by former NCW Official Dan(ce) Tanaka, it looks like 2nd time is the charm for the manager/adopted father of David Marxxx-Loomis, JC Marxxx. Apparently also winning the 2009 Father of the Year award, Marxxx had a very tough competition against ring announcer Peter Czymbor, who earned a respectable 26% of the vote.
